How can I help?
Drepung Loseling Monastery has two programs which raise funds to assist the over 3,000 monks currently living in exile at Drepung Loseling Monastery in India’s refugee camps in Karnataka State. Tibetan Traditions is the online merchandise site of the products carried by the monks while on the Mystical Arts of Tibet tour. The Drepung Loseling Educational Fund is a sponsorship program with a chosen monk serving as an ambassador.
Young monks at Drepung Loseling Monastery in India have little parental support. They depend almost entirely upon the production of the monastery’s small farm for their food. More than half of them are recent refugees whose families remain in Chinese-occupied Tibet. A number of them are orphans. Nevertheless, the monastery accepts all sincere candidates regardless of their financial situation.
The elder monks of Drepung Loseling, now in their 70s, 80s, and 90s, have a number of special needs, often as a result of the physical sacrifices they made during the early years of the Tibetan diaspora. Your gift will be used to provide specialized healthcare, better nutrition, and assistance with day-to-day activities such as laundry, transportation, and personal care. Easing their challenges will help them to remain an important source of inspiration and guidance.
